Vicko began drawing as a means of reflecting on her youth and calming the noise in her head. In the midst of her studies to become an educator she created her web series, ScholaR Comics, which follows three young people navigating complicated emotions. Among her most recognized work is a humble zine titled “Rosita Gets Scared” telling the story of a young immigrant grappling with her fear of ICE and deportation. Today, Vicko continues to use comics as a medium to express our toughest feelings honestly. She also continues to just have fun learning, drawing, and reflecting.
